Job Summary

Provides oversight in the daily operations of the Wertheim Conservatory and Research greenhouses, as well as long-term planning for maintenance and improvements. Works on collection development in consultation with faculty, and cooperate in research and teaching activities of the Department of Biological Sciences and the International Center for Tropical Botany. Maintains and develops displays, and arranges for visiting groups to have tours of the Conservatory. Updates and keeps available self-guided tour materials for visitors to use during hours the Conservatory is open to the public. Keeps track of use and provide billing to researchers and departments for courses that use the growth facilities. Explores funding opportunities and work on grant applications to funding agencies for both educational and research activities and the improvement of the facility.

Leads in the conception, development, and implementation of living collections at the Wertheim Conservatory and associated interpretive and marketing materials. Publishes research, presents academic papers, delivers public lectures and/or provides tours.     Participates in the efforts to promote and build the Wertheim Conservatory's collection and acquisitions funds.     Represents the Wertheim Conservatory in the broader community and collaborates with internal and external partners that share aspects of the conservatory's mission related to arts and culture. Supervises and mentors  undergraduate and graduate assistants in the greenhouse and with WC curation.


Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in related discipline and three (3) years' experience in a related field.

Proven external fundraising

Publications in peer-reviewed journals
