Clifford Louime

PhD in Environmental Sciences. Researcher at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) from the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) in Golden, Colorado.


Research Interests:

Via a systems biology approach, Dr. Louime utilizes novel OMICS tools to identify and analyze microbial pathways involved in hydrocarbon production.

  • Establishing a bioenergy-focused algae collection in Puerto Rico;
  • Algal “omics”
  • Metabolic engineering for enhanced hydrocarbon production;
  • Protein engineering for enhanced lipid production;
  • Biological lignin utilization;
  • Discovery of new antibiotics;
  • Novel Chemicals from El Yunque Tropical Rainforest;
  • International BioEnergy Initiative.
