PhD in Environmental Sciences. Researcher at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) from the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) in Golden, Colorado.
Research Interests:
Via a systems biology approach, Dr. Louime utilizes novel OMICS tools to identify and analyze microbial pathways involved in hydrocarbon production.
Current projects:
- Establishing a bioenergy-focused algae collection in Puerto Rico;
- Algal “omics”
- Metabolic engineering for enhanced hydrocarbon production;
- Protein engineering for enhanced lipid production;
- Biological lignin utilization;
- Discovery of new antibiotics;
- Novel Chemicals from El Yunque Tropical Rainforest;
- International BioEnergy Initiative.
