Undergraduate research

The Environmental Science Program is the only science program at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus in which all students graduate with undergraduate research experience. Students conduct their research work under the supervision of Environmental Science faculty members or under supervision of researchers from other science departments at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus.

Many of our students also participate as summer interns in programs sponsored by statewide institutions and research centers, as well as at state and federal agencies such as the United States Geological Survey, the Department of Natural and Environmental Resources of Puerto Rico, the Environmental Protection Agency, and others.
